1980 Membership started with 48, Gained 4, lost 2, ended year with 50.Theme for the Year “Take Time to Serve”. This years President was John Kilpatrick who was a Plywood Board Importer.

Widows Outing grew in such a way that we needed 3 buses to transport the Widows & Orphans to Cumnock.

Club agree to donate £250 to Claremont High School to assist in purchasing a chair to get handicapped people in and out of their pool, this contribution was in a way to remember the late William Gill who was a Rotarian in our Club & died in Rotary service.

Faichney Field came to one of our luncheons to receive a cheque £400 towards their community project. District Governor delighted with his visit to the Club & happy to see it being run in such a business like fashion.

Club raised £1250 for East Kilbride Scanner Appeal.

Rotary Foundation Subscription increased to £2.50 per member Payable with other Rotary fees

Treasurers report for October 1980 indicated that the General Fund stood at £1900.27 our Benevolent fund at £1094.02 and the President’s Fund at £470.88.

Lunch charges to be increased by hotel to £2.50.

Cumnock outing attracted thirty Widows & 65 children. Income for the year from weekly draw came to £346.19.

Club donates £1000 to Guide dogs for the Blind. Rotarian Mike McMillan took on board “House Training” for one year of a Labrador puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Highlight of the year was Clubs visit to Belfast. 21 Senior active members was not a healthy sign & there should be a more aggressive approach to recruitment.

Membership stood at 52.

Club sponsored 2 disabled people to a holiday cost £200.00 per person.

Club initiated the Apprentice of the Year award via the engineering Training Centre.

Members failed to give their support to Ladies night & our Annual dance.
